Powerup Program

The PowerUp Chess Program is a FUN 6-week introductory After-School Chess Program designed to help students learn the FUNdamentals of chess including basic piece movement, checkmating patterns, and other foundational principles of the game in a dynamic and engaging environment.

Tournament Chess Program

The Tournament Chess is a 6-week After School Program that is designed for students who have chess experience, knowledge of how all the pieces move, and an understanding of check, checkmate, and stalemate. In the  program students can expect to play in weekly chess tournament games and learn new tactical patterns.

PowerUP/Introductory chess camp

The PowerUp Summer Camp is designed to help students learn the FUNdamentals of chess including basic piece movement, checkmating patterns, and other foundational principles of the game in a dynamic and engaging environment. Some of the documented benefits of chess instruction are improved critical thinking skills, increased math and verbal test scores, and a myriad of varied life skills. Students can expect to spend the first part of camp becoming proficient in piece movement and other foundational game principles. Once mastered, students will learn basic checkmating patterns, chess opening ideas, and play in tournament-style chess games. 

PowerChess Summer Camps include the following activities:

  • – Chess instruction: On foundational principles of the game, Tactical patterns, checkmating patterns, middlegame ideas, and much more from trained PowerChess Coaches. 
  • – Goal setting
  • – How to improve chess study habits
  • – Practice playing positions against other students
  • – Puzzle-solving contests
  • – Full Length Chess Games

Tournament/Intermediate Chess Camp

In the PowerChess Tournament Chess Summer Camps, students will advance their chess knowledge and experience through presentations and hands-on application of new opening positions and tactical ideas, tournament-length gameplay, game analysis, and, yes, students will have the opportunity to play against each other in a BLITZ tournament!

PowerChess Tournament Chess Summer Camp is geared towards students who have, at a minimum, an understanding of chess piece movement, basic mating patterns, and a LOVE for everything chess. Students will continue to grow in their mastery of chess and build upon these ideas and skills in a positive, supportive learning environment.
