CPR For the Professional Rescuer
This course consists on online course work provided by the American Red Cross that must be completed in the week before the in person skill session and test day.
This course is recommended for medical professionals, lifeguards, aerobics/fitness sports instructors and public and private safety security employees. This course covers, recognizing and caring for breathing and cardiac emergencies for adults, children and infants; two rescuer CPR; use of a resuscitation mask (pocket mask), and bag-valve mask. Also familiarizes participants with the use of an Automated External Defibrillation device for victims of sudden cardiac arrest.

CPR For the Professional Rescuer Re-certification
CPR certifications expire annually! This is a new addition to our community safety courses and allows those current in American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer to renew their certification. This is a renewal course only and no review will be given! To achieve re-certification, participants must pass a written exam and successfully demonstrate all skills pertaining to their certificaion. Refunds will not be issued for failed attempts. Participants may attempt re-certification as often as their current certification remains valid. Lifeguard Training
New this year: Lifeguard classes will be a hybrid of online course work and in person skills/tests. Each class will meet the first scheduled day of class for the pre-test. All who pass will be given a link to register online with American Red Cross(there will be a fee for this portion.) The first week of class will be for completing the online portion in your own time. The in person skills and tests will begin the second week as scheduled.
Class space is limited and early registration is strongly suggested! Certification is available upon the completion of the course (36 hours, 100% attendance required). The course materials are included in the cost of the class and will be provided on the first day of the course. A skills test is given on the first day of class (class fee refunds minus the $5 non-refundable fee are given to those who fail this test). Participants must pass all written and skills tests to receive certification. CPR and First Aid certifications are included in this course. Participants must be at least 15 years of age by the last class session. Proof of age is required and verified at the beginning of the course. Lifeguard Instructor (LGI)
This course will prepare you to teach Lifeguard Training to prospective lifeguards. It also offers instructor-level training in the following course modules: AED Essentials, Oxygen Administration, Lifeguard Management, Preventing Disease Transmission and Basic Water Rescue.
Participants must be at least 17 years of age (proof required) by the last scheduled day of the instructor course. Participants must successfully complete Lifeguarding Instructor Pre-Test (first day of the course) of all skills and knowledge learned in Lifeguarding courses

Swim Instructor Training
Orem City has joined with other Utah County Pools to develop and implement a new swim instructor training program and swim lesson program known as the "Utah County Swim School". All instructors hired at any of the involved Utah County facilities will be required to complete the Utah County Swim Instructor Training before summer 2012. Due to this change we will no longer be offering The American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor training program at our facility. The new training program which implements the Utah Valley Swim School standards will be offered starting the end of March 2012 at the Orem Fitness Center.
