Hunter Education

To get your small or big game hunting license in Utah, you must attend and pass the Division of Wildlife Resources Hunter Education program (if born after December 31, 1965).  The Orem Fitness Center is one of the sites that offers this certification program.
Each Hunter Education course, as required by state law, follows a strict curriculum of a minimum of fifteen hours of instruction.  Students receive instruction in hunter ethics and responsibility, wildlife management, wildlife conservation and identification, outdoor survival, legal hunting equipment and technique, safe hunting procedures, and practical firearm handling.  Students are certified through written, attitude and shooting range tests.  Parents are urged to take the course with their child.  A child under the age of 14 should be accompanied by an adult.
The Division of Wildlife Resources requires students to purchase a voucher prior to taking this class.  Vouchers can be purchased at any licensed agent for $10.  Upon successful completion of course, students will receive a free 365-day Small Game License.  The license will allow a Hunter Education graduate to hunt small game during the current season.  The Hunter Education card, commonly known as the “blue card,” will be mailed to the student.
